willowlight is a single-player game. It doesn't need to know who you are, and it doesn't ask.
No account required
There is no sign-in, no profile, and no leaderboard. You don't give willowlight an email address, a name, or any other personal information in order to play it.
Your saves
Your progress — which realms you've reached, which memories you've found, the boons you chose and the ending you arrived at — is stored on your device. If you're signed into iCloud, it syncs privately across your own devices using Apple's iCloud. There is no server of mine holding any of it, and no way for me to see what you did in the game.
Anonymous usage analytics
willowlight uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand which parts of the game people reach and where they stop. This is anonymous and aggregated: it doesn't use advertising identifiers, doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and can't be tied back to you personally.
No ads, no ad tracking
willowlight has no advertisements and does not use any advertising or ad-tracking networks.
Purchases
The first act is free. The rest of the story is a one-time in-app purchase — not a subscription — processed entirely through Apple's App Store. Payment information is handled by Apple and never reaches me.
Notifications
If the game asks to send you notifications and you allow it, they're scheduled locally on your device. Nothing is sent from a server, and no personal information is shared to deliver them.
The launch mailing list
The willowlight page on this website has an optional form for launch notifications. That is separate from the game itself and is covered by the website privacy policy. Playing the game never adds you to any mailing list.
Children's privacy
willowlight is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
